Mentorship Kick-Off!

On Monday, October 4th, SWE kicked off their first mentorship dinner of the academic year, hosted by SWE's mentorship chair, Ariana Thacker. There was yummy El Pollo Loco served, which included grilled chicken, rice, beans, and mashed potatoes. As an icebreaker, the group of about 60 mentees and mentors played "In Sync" where each table, divided by major, had to come up with their own synchronized movement for a prize of extra raffle tickets. This meet and greet allowed mentees the opportunity to build a rapport with their mentors and exchange contact information in a very social environment. Several raffle prizes were given: including t-shirts, water bottles, notebooks, and calculators. In addition to a very informational powerpoint highlighting must-know information and advice, the famous SWE mentorship folders were emailed to the mentees after the event, in an effort to go green. With raffles, free food, and good company, the attendees of SWE's Fall Mentorship dinner had a great time, with hopefully many more in our upcoming SWE events in the winter and fall.
